Novocaine For The Soul

Had a dentist appointment today. I had to get my cavities filled on my right back molars. He, my dentist, shot me twice and I was completely numbed within 2 minutes. Yummmm…Novocain! But it hurt so bad!! He had to shoot me near my gums while pulling my cheek….that was weird. the dentist and his nurse leant me back and started to drill. All I saw was white dust fly out of my mouth and into the air. It was pretty funny….like if someone fell in a pile of flour. He told me if I felt anything that I raise my right hand…which I couldn’t do anyway cause he had the tray there blocking my hand. he did all the drilling and filling and left me there to dry. The nurse and I had an awkward moment. The dentist came back, checked the filling, and told me to rinse. Having never been shot with Novocain, I took the cup and TRIED to swish the water in my mouth….it all spilled. Spilled everywhere! I aimed for the pan thingy and it got on my sweater and jeans and on the chair. I looked like a baby! Hopefully no one saw! I had no idea that the Novocain took so much effect….in fact it didn’t wear off for about 5 hours! My lip was a little swollen and I couldn’t talk right. right now it kinda hurts to chew on that side. My brother asked if he punched me would I be able to feel it. I probably wouldn’t. but it’s over….until Wednesday, when I have to go back and do the left side. Yay?

But I have to admit it….i might like going to the dentist! *gasp* I don’t know why….i guess I am weird in that way. I mean I don’t like pain, but I’m not scared to go in there….actually I look forward to it. It reminds me a little of bill murray’s character in Little Shop of Horrors.

My dentist looks a little like Woody Allen but with a beard. Just thought you might like to know.*

It's Your Birthday

I'm not going to start by singing Happy Birthday, but we are celebrating one! A man nicknamed THE EDGE is celebrating his 45 birthday today. so here's to you, happy birthday. i really don't know what to say about him....he's one of the greatest musicians ever. he not only plays the guitar but he sings back vocals and keyboard. it's his talent that really makes U2 shine. he's no ordinary stereotypical rocker. like bono, his "activist" side is supporting Music Rising, a foundation that replaces the instruments lost in hurricane Katrina. so being in a rock band has not gone to his head. personally i like ALL THAT YOU CAN'T LEAVE BEHIND for all the acoustic songs, but his best work was done on ACHTUNG BABY. he was able to pull off that sound that U2 dreamt up. truly he is one of the best guitarists on earth. i think you'd all joing me in raising your bottles of guinness and wishing this mofo a happy birthday*
